Frequently Asked Questions

  • Travel is one of the few places where time, money, and intention intersect. When done well, it deepens connection and leaves room to actually enjoy the experience—not manage it.

For many of our clients, the challenge isn’t the trip itself, but the planning. Endless research, hard-to-find recommendations, and the desire for meaningful access or in-destination support can quietly drain the anticipation.

Well Spent brings structure, discernment, and quiet expertise to the process—so your travel feels seamless, deliberate, and worth the investment.

  • Well Spent works with thoughtful, discerning travelers who value quality, intention, and ease—without the need for excess or pretense.

As a boutique travel advisory, we support a limited number of clients across their full calendar of travel each year. Our clients come to us for everything from once-in-a-lifetime family trips and milestone celebrations to ultra-luxe beach escapes and well-considered city breaks.

Most of our clients are accomplished professionals—entrepreneurs, executives, and leaders in their fields—who want their travel to feel seamless, elevated, and genuinely well spent.

  • Not at all. We support everything from one-night staycations and long weekend getaways to multi-week, multi-destination journeys.

Even for seemingly simple hotel stays, working with a travel advisor often unlocks added value—preferred rates, upgrades, and benefits that aren’t always visible when booking on your own.

Our services are designed to scale based on the type of trip and the level of planning involved, with Itinerary Planning offering the most comprehensive, white-glove support for complex travel.

  • Our fees vary depending on the scope and complexity of your trip. After a complimentary consultation, we’ll provide a clear quote before any planning begins—so you know exactly what to expect.

If you already know where you’d like to stay, hotel bookings are complimentary. You pay the same public rate you’d find booking directly, often with added value through our preferred partnerships.

  • When we book hotels on your behalf, we’re compensated by the hotel for the reservation. This allows us to offer hotel bookings as a complimentary service—without marking up the rate you pay or adding extra fees.

Planning fees apply to work that requires time, judgment, and coordination but does not generate commission, such as itinerary design, multi-stop travel, and complex logistics.

This approach keeps pricing clear, fair, and aligned with the level of work involved.

  • In most cases, the rate is the same as booking directly. When a preferred partner rate differs, it’s typically marginal and includes added value such as breakfast, upgrades, or property credits.

If you prefer the standard public rate without amenities, we’re always happy to book that as well. You’ll see all options before anything is confirmed.

  • In some cases, we may be able to take over an existing reservation by being added as the agent of record. If successful, this can allow you to access preferred partner benefits—without changing your rate.

Availability depends on the hotel, rate type, and timing, but we’re happy to review your booking and advise. Simply email us with the reservation details, and we’ll take it from there.

  • We currently only book business/first class flights. Please know there may be an additional fee when booking flights.

  • Travel-rewards credit cards are great—and some do offer added benefits when you book hotels. That said, those bookings are still processed through large platforms, where your reservation is one of many.

When you book through Well Spent, your reservation is handled differently. We work directly with hotel teams before your arrival, advocate on your behalf, and ensure your stay is flagged for priority consideration. That often translates into better upgrades, more thoughtful welcome amenities, and a more personalized experience overall.

In short: credit card perks are automated. Our approach is personal—and that difference is felt on the ground.

  • We start with the fundamentals—your dates, budget, and interests—but that’s only the baseline.

What truly shapes your itinerary are the details that determine how a trip feels: your pace, routines, preferences, and pain points. What energizes you, what stresses you out, and what you need in order to feel comfortable and at ease while traveling.

We also plan carefully around who you’re traveling with. Children, grandparents, partners, or friends all change the equation, as do accessibility considerations. Mobility needs, step-free access, elevator availability, transfer logistics, room layouts, and the physical demands of experiences are factored in from the outset—not treated as an afterthought.

Nap schedules, learning interests, dietary needs, allergies, and accessibility requirements all inform how we structure each day. The goal isn’t just a beautiful itinerary—it’s a trip that works in real life. We design with intention and prepare you with the right context and insights so you can travel confidently, regardless of destination, travel style, or support needs.

  • Timing depends on the destination and season, but for most trips, we recommend beginning 6–12 months in advance—particularly for Itinerary Planning and more complex travel.

We can accommodate shorter lead times when availability allows, though options may be more limited and pricing may be higher closer to departure. Trips departing within 60 days are subject to a rush planning fee.

  • Fora Travel is a modern network that supports independent travel advisors. Well Spent operates as an independent advisory within Fora, which gives us access to an extensive global infrastructure—without compromising our own point of view or service style.

Through Fora, we’re connected to preferred industry partnerships and programs such as the invite-only Virtuoso network and brand-specific benefits like Rosewood Elite. We also benefit from a highly active advisor community and ongoing professional training, allowing us to stay current, informed, and well-connected across destinations worldwide.

In short: Fora expands what we can offer behind the scenes—so your experience on the ground is better.
